Unless you need to carry passengers I would look at the Ranger Super Cab - the small rear door opens suicide style to allow very easy access to the rear which is large enough for kit, bait bag, etc and you get a larger pick up buck than the double cab.

im thinking ford ranger to be honest with double cab for the extra space

I’ve got a 52 plate Ford Ranger supercab, excellent truck apart from being very thirsty. won’t ever see 25mpg, average about 20. 2006 - rangers have better fuel economy though.

Not much better to be honest. My 07 Ranger drinks a fair bit, especially towing a couple of tons. The Supercab size is great though for kit stowage.

The reverse gear is too high and I end up with a stinking clutch when a trailer is hooked on and I need to manoeuvre uphill.

Still like it though. Plus it's not a Landrover. Lol.

The times coming when i think my corsa is gunna give up the ghost, all these bumpy forest tracks arnt doing it any good so im defenatly thinking about getting a 4 x 4

so the queston is what do you lot think are good motors i know everybodys got there preference but it would be good to get some good and bad points like miles per gallon etc as i dont want to buy a mony eater. im thinking about either spending 4-5k or do you think it would be worth putting that 4k towards finance and getting a newer motor maybe with a garentee for a year or two?

i was thinking along the lines of a disco but have heard a few bad things

so thoughts on

ford rangers

nissan navaras

izuzu rodeo

and any others people have experince with

cheers guys

Citroen 2 cv club, very good off road, very good mpg, and lots of room for wood chip if you pull back the roof:thumbup::lol:

I'm on forest tracks alot. Unless your doing lots of towing or carrying loads of stuff get a small van. I went for a berlingo, has a fold away seat. Loads of room. Can tow 1050 gross (I think) 50mpg. Put some good tyres on too. You'll get a good one for around 3k and have money left over for extra locks, tow bars, ply lining trailer etc!
