Is this rope a bit dodgy to climb on? Ive got another one but its a thin one so its harder to climb with. The frey in the picture is the biggest one but there are a couple others dotted along it. Whats your thoughts on this?

Another thing is its more of a rock climbing rope I think, although im not actually sure. Its more of a smooth feel, should I use it on the trees or not?

cheers :)

It looks like a 16 strand tree rope to me, definatly not a rock climbing rope. Maybe XTC

You need a loler inspector to look at it really to be sure, but the frays alone arent too bad. I would be more concerned about its age, and what use it has had previously.

If its ten years old and has been used for rigging then no you cant use it for climbing regadless of any frays.

Your the 1 hanging on the end of it, if you can't make your mind up then through it a way but remember to cut it in small bits so it can't be used.

that would be a waste? if it was mine and I didnt want to climb on it I would just turn it into a pull rope, or probably even light rigging

when you run your hands down is there any narrowing or bulges just above or below.

If not the damage looks ok but looks like a well used rope that has either come to the end of it,s life or is getting towards that stage.

As someone else said if you have any doubts you will find it affects your trust and is not worth it.

If you have loler inspections then ask their opinion and if not either find one or ask a local experienced tree bods thoughts but end of it,s your life and your call:thumbup:
