PTO logsplitter problem

I run mine on tickover at 1000 gives the same shaft speed as high revs 540 but stalls easier and uses less fuel

Like I said earlier, change the oil and filter first before starting to fault find, if you drop the oil out and find bits in it then you know it's something else.

A service sometimes works wonders:sneaky2:

It still brandnew only 30 working hours:blushing:

30 hours of abuse is more than enough to kill a pump.

Do the oil and filter first and see if it helps.

If that doesn’t cure it you can get a test gauge like this on eBay http://tinyurl.com/6mvvdx (you might need a couple of fittings as well)

Start with the oil cold and monitor as the oil warms up. If the pressure drops off as the temperature increases it’s time for a new pump. These chaps are cheap for pumps http://www.whp.co.uk

It's unlikely to be the pump from the description he gave he says he started using it on 540 and has had to start using 1000rpm to get the pressure up.

He hasn't run it on 1000 from new.

A common fault with many new build hydraulic circiuts is the relief valve sticking open or the pressure relief valve ball bearing not seating right.

The filter should be changed to make sure no swarf is in the system and check the colour of the oil if this machine is used or stored outside a lot
