lol, had another look and see the twig left hand corner, not a beech twig, not an ash twig though the buds are very black.

 

mmmm maybe it IS an ailanthus after all! cant be aving bullman get one over on me! nOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

1st tree to come into my head was ailanthus as soon as I saw the photo.

 

Markings on the trunk look very characteristic of ailanthus to me.

you can get that rippling on ash and tree of heaven, but we can only speculate as the picture isn't conclusive

Disregarding the third hand info about spikes and saws of unknown sharpness and breakable twigs that could be from anywhere, it could be ailanthus but pale colour smooth bark and that rippling it could just be a big Holly

I don't think so....the angle of the branch unions doesnt look right to me. Plus, even if dead there would be some remenant of leaves
