What petrol strimmers are you using, & any pros/cons?

been using FS400's for years but went to finland and used a husky 345 (i think) with a thumb control on the throttle was great no cramp in my arm from squeezing the throttle all day

 

Yep . Thats the one I have . could not remember the number . Stonking brushcutter .

I have a Husky 345 too and really like it. They do 2 versions... one is a "brushcutter" and the other is a "clearing saw". They've brought out a bigger 355 now. You'd have to check Husky's website or visit a dealer to figure out the differences.

stihl or husky , personal choice really,i like both, get your dealer to arrange a demo

Husqvarna 240R and has run well over hundreds of hours. New versions have heated handles and can turn the handles to store access difficult sites.

 

I had considered a backpack version as often on steep banks now.

got to be echo for me got a 2003 srm330 god its been abused and its still going strong today get a big echo that what i say

I'd always use a Stihl fs400!

 

so would i,, but i ment the 410 replaced the 400 in the stihl catologe,

the 410 is a good machine tho,, i always pick up the 480 is i have to do the odd days brushcutting,

I have a tanaka TBC230 and it's rubbish - the vibrations are far too high. I used it for edging lawns and replaced it with a Husqvarna equivalent. It is NOT a professional machine.

 

I use an Echo SRM4000u and it's good. I just wish I could find the parts to use it with a blade head as well as the line trimmer. Once it breaks down I expect to be replacing the machine as Echo are awful for spare part availability. I will likely go for a Husqvarna 345.
