I dont like using the ropeman or duck for the o rig. its pretty easy to grab the splice side of your line and end up with a hitch thats to far away to reach!

The ropeman or duck combined with the required krab adds too much play IMO. A tiny prusik is ideal, tight onto a small shackle, minimises travel.

The whole set up comes into it's own when your right out at the tips, going in and out with your gear taking your weight and not the limb. Neither the wrench nor pantin can help here in the same way.

I don't use a lockjack or wrench so my knowledge is limited and my understanding is lacking. Happy to be corrected here, I still like the tip tender/ 'o'-rig, (it's a cheaper option too!!).

I spent years on an LJ and now use SRT with a HC. If you climb DRT with a hitch knot, I can't think of a better system than an O Rig.

One of my guys uses it to great effect and has a Pantin so that he punts up instead of hauling with arms.

Found the 30 cm STEIN cut aways work well to join the spliced rope to the hitch. You can fit them between the side cheeks of the Skywalker on to the one carabiner leaving the top eye free for other uses.

Once you have got yourself to the top always worth switching to double carabiner (bottom crab to you too crab to rope) ..... Makes it much easier to move around branches.

:D
