we had one similar that had its own wire rope the only problem was it either pulled when you revved it or it went slack you could not hold the tension

 

i have a slight problem with the poplar stem when you had a pulley up the stem that sounded to take a bit of a smack as it came over

i've used one before and as long as your not expecting to pull a flippin tank then you can find lots of uses for it. Guy i know got his from usa a lot cheaper than here, reckons its rated to a 3t pull. He mainly uses it for dragging brush up gardens that he piles up. Saves a massive amount of grunt. I give it a

how about a trewhella monkey winch? although i think dean's winch that he found is a tad more up to date!!

HI DAVID is the guarding on your tractor done from plans have you also got the sump plate underneath i may be getting a new tractor and i am going to guard this one up to protect it and me.

 

 

 

Think we got the Valtra in around 2000, and I'm pretty sure the guarding was supplied already spec'd.

I had this on loan for a week and it worked pretty good for the trees we had to pull over, but not so great at dragging them thereafter. I'd read good and bad reports before trying it....and while I can now better understand the different points of view, I'll just keep my opinions to my self in this instance. Thanks

 

I think it looks quite good it did what you wanted it to do.
