Went for planning permission tonight to do firewood which meant change of use from agricultural to light industrial use, It was refused 8 votes too 7(sooo close)

If we had got permission we would of had strict condions placed on us and our planting scheme would of costs thousands of pounds. (min 10k up to 20k)

Then they decided not too take enfocement actoin agaist us, so we can carry on as we are without spending any money. so bizarre.

We went into the planning meeting wanting to get permission, thank got we did not get it!!!!

Some councils class firewood sales as "farm" produce so no planning needed at all. (same with signs like those boards that turn in the wind) I have seen planning refused following discussions and then a new application approved. (I have been told it's all to do with fees received from a friend who used to be a main planning man)

Keep low profile and should be fine. Councils often take action when the public moan and like a silent life otherwise.

I agree with John as well always have the information on file and at the physical location for inspection just in case they change their minds. It almost seems like the planning department already made allowances for your zoning to be Grandfathered in anyway?.

Weird decision, but one I could live and work with.
