Never used one and don't want too. I personally feel hat they remove too much of the tooth and harden it, which makes it difficult to file afterwards. With the cost of chains I think they're uneconomical to use. Might just be me being tight....

i only file by hand.

only use one to recover a chain after belting/knocking lunps out the cutters otherwise file everytime i get a better faster cut me thinks and use my old chains for the ruff dirty stuff for my logburner i have learned the hardway done the buying chepo chain used my saw through dirt etc arbtalk has learned me loads read and learn or it will cost you £££££££££
