A root kit is a nasty bit of software than can get downloaded onto your computer, it can hide it's self very well and can also stop the normal security software from flagging it up as a threat by changing the settings, a number of nasties can be bundled along with the rootkit to create further problems, 3 hour scan though! sounds a little on the long side, what security software do you run?

3 hours is a long time for a scan unless your hard drive is chocker or your processor is a bit knackered. I would be a bit concerned. Try a defrag to free up space on your hard drive which should help:001_smile: processor speed , then run a full deep scan

Do you get plenty of software though? and what about things like printers are they all compatible or is it limited?

I got a new Kodak printer (the ink is much cheeper) it works wirelessly no problem for the mac.

Not had any real problems with mine, I just down load what ever software I need form the app store.
