No comments on the saw being wider? or so i thought when i looked at one, to plasticy.

I talk abbout when you haven't clipped you saw to your harness and try to advance to a new position, then it gets stuck in a fork etc!! where as the husky 338xpt had a pear drop shape back end?

Thought it would have been nice to produce something not so "Square" at the back end....

The front handle is the widest part of the saw and I don't think the new one is any wider than the old one.

The new one has a more rounded back end to help it come up through the branches.

They have also guarded the front of the top handle, where it meets the saw body and under the top handle where the carb housing meets the saw body, they have swept the saw body up, this should help stop twigs going in and damaging the carb boot :thumbup1:

I really think stihl have tried (and imo succeeded) to improve the saw.

I had the 200 in one hand and the 201 in the other, my head was saying buy the 200, as I have had many over the years and always liked them, but the 201 was just so much nicer.

The 200 was the last available, but I just wanted the advantages that the 201 seemed to offer.

I've not used the 201 a great deal yet, but I real am pleased with it so far.

Some of the reasons people give for not liking the 201 are just bonkers, one was that the side case nut is smaller, so you need a different combie spanner :confused1: err.....just turn the spanner round and use the small end:001_rolleyes:.

Before Christmas because of many negative posts on here about the 201t not being as good as the the 200t I rang Dick Leigh (my local dealer and a legend to all who know him) and asked if he had any 200's left, he did and said he'd put my name on one.

Today I went to Dick's to pick up the saw, while there I thought I'd have a look at the 201, it looked really nice and felt very good in the hand. The top handle is a much better shape, the AV's seem much better, the shape of the whole saw is just better, they have even put "idiot marks" on the caps:001_rolleyes: for those of you who struggle with such complex equipment:001_tt2:

So I asked how they had been finding the new saw??

They have only had one back with problems, that turned out to be a faulty spark plug, so easily fixed.

So in the end I decided to take a 201t, instead of the 200t.

Its fantastic:thumbup:

Its the same as the 200, but better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so pleased its a good saw and that Stihl have not ruined the tool I use for 90% of my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had a e-mail from dick leigh yesterday,ms201t (12" bar) with VAT and post £510.00..:thumbup1:

shall i........??????????? tempted
