Sugar in fuel Tanks!!!

But you would have noticed that which means it would have caused annoyance and delay but not serious damage. This looks more like somebody really trying to sod stuff up properly. Had a run in with anybody recently? Please don't name names! :001_smile:

No run-ins with any one what so ever.

Get on fine with other local firewood guys and not under cutting any one - in fact prob the most expensive firewood around!

Well somebody seems to have a problem with you unless it's just vandalism but it's not a common means of simple vandalism. That tends to be more 'in your face' as it is about reaction. This is more like somebody trying to cause lasting damage to your business than destruction.

The sugar will dissolve until the solution reaches saturation so finding granules isn’t indicative.

As long as you haven’t run the engine it should be OK. Drain replace filters and flush the fuel lines, oh and fit some locking caps.

I seem to recall a MythBuster episode where they tried to destroy an engine by pouring various "stuff" in the tank, including sugar. The sugar didn't do any harm, since fuel does not dissolve the sugar (which is why you found the granules).

So "sugar in the fuel tank will destroy your engine" is A MYTH!

See MythBusters Episode 15: Scuba Diver, Car Capers (2004 episode 15)

A car engine will be destroyed when sugar is put into the fuel tank.

BUSTED

The engine ran even better than without the sugar.

However, I'd look out for the what happens next, when the sugar didn't do "the job".

Had exact same thing in the transit b4 xmas.

Noticed that the filler cap had been tampered with.

had a friend sort it out for me. He found sugar and what looked like water but was probably piss.

Was annoying at the time but I took it as a backhanded compliment...i must be real competition if someone feels the need to try sabotage.:D

I would suggest trying to nip it in the bud straight away. ie tv camera to catch who ever it is. I have a running battle with the locals but being on a farm it is difficult to catch them in the act. Second nature now dipping fuel tanks and dip sticks for addition of water. Electric fencers disconnected. Field gates left open and animals let out. (all gates now padlocked) Another farmer I know gave up after years of the locals so called pranks but its no fun having to put a battery on equipment every time you need to use it as the locals hot wire for a joy ride.
