A man has got to know his limitations, Clint Eastwood. Your advise is well founded.

Well I spose if you are really ill then that's different. I mean there is REALLY ill and that state you just can't work though. But most colds / flu / bugs, you are better puking and pushing on I find. Nightmare but it's the best way.

My advice is red wine. I drink about 60 gallons a day and while everyone around me falls ill with bugs and colds, I seem imune. It may be that or being brought up on a farm and eating pasties after having my hands in a rabbits guts etc.

But if you are really ill, you need a doc, I think.

In terms of income, you can get insurance for this sort of thing if you rely on yourself for your income.

my wife recently went down with nora virus she caught from a delightful spewy pediatric patient at work.... i was worried about loosing work if i got it, but after a few days of holding her hair back and washing out the sick bowl, i was still fine. i think there must be some truth in the fact that im too busy to get ill. whenever i have time off i seem to get a bit sniffly. work seems to push it all out!

but that said if you really are feeling minging it is a terrible idea to go in to work. it is dangerous as we are operating saws etc but more than that we are likely to give it to our colleagues, they'd rather you cancelled a day than put them out of work for a week.

Spot on

Depends if you're a little sick or really I'll with something. I've always soldiered on, manned up and got on with it, but this time I've been ill since October, recovery is likely to be getting on for 3months, so my strongest advice is to ensure you pay for sickness cover for the unknown in life. Doesn't matter how tough you are, something will get you eventually.

You Have spent too long at school need to get used to working outside it will make you tuffer and healthy. Eat healthy too I have tomato chesse and cucumber brown bread sandwiches and loads of fruit every day loads of sugar in fruit and carbs in the bread you need somthing to keep you going. My biggest weaknes is tiredness but diet plays a big part and make sure you rest sundays so you can start the week fresh with lots of energy. Hope this helps.

The trouble with sickness cover is that it's so damned expensive and is usually one of the first things that gets chopped when money is really tight!

Believe me, i know that. Last year, I was sorting out my expenses and closed some policies, and when I fell ill I kicked myself believing I'd cancelled my sickness cover, fortunately I'd only reduced my cover, still a reasonable pay out. One thing from my experience is do keep it up, I've never been seriously I'll in my life, worked through flu and colds like many others, but one day something will get you, and you will be glad you kept up the payments. If times are tight, reduce your cover, but importantly maintain some sort of cover and increase it when you can afford too.

Had winter sickness bug last year, puked from 1am to 4am, got up at 6 went to tree job, didn't eat all day just plenty of water, got home and ate like a pig.

Nighttime is for illness, same as real men don't wear pink.:lol:

Sometimes it's easier to push through it put plan so you don't do something that can effect other people, like climbing when you are on day nurse to some other drug that imparts you thinking, the label on bottles is good like do not operate heavy machinery while taking this medicine.

If it is going to be a safety issue it is best to stay in bed. Better that than a hurt worker because your mind is elsewere
