Using breathable tarpaulin for log seasoning

Was wondering if anyone has ever used a breathable tarpaulin to season logs and where to buy one? Im aware a normal tarp will cause condensation and the logs won't dry. If I have the logs on pallets and cover them for a year will they be seasoned? Thanks

I have seen this winter on the front of a new farmers shed vented material like that we use on arb bags, the most ventilated sides. This was in rolls each covering one bay of a barn with one open side. No idea who supplies it though, I was a guest of the shooting tenant not the farmer.

they use it to keep pigeons and other flying vermin out of sheds. strong stuff

I have that stuff on the front of my barn, it stops rain and snow blowing in but allows air circulation, no good as a tarp though

If you only cover the top and leave the sides open you should have little trouble with condensation.

That's my view, the breathable stuff is for confined spaces which the vapour has to get out of or for covering heaps where the vapour would otherwise condense back on the top. Even then there are issues with getting it on and off the heap. I cannot see any advantage over a tented structure, like a polytunnel.

 

 

Apart from when it's raining the RH is always below 100% so some ( even if insignificant in winter) drying will occur if the wood doesn't get re wetted.

Would the silage clamp product they do not be suitable ?, suspect it might be non breathing though.
