I've had a 51 plate (older model) double cab for 3 years, it had 80k on the clock when I bought it, its now got 160k on it, spends mosts days towing chippers and stump grinders, been serviced once a year, got through 2 sets of tyres (cheap ones at that) and one set of brake pads, thats it. its a bit down on power now, it can legally tow 2.5 tonnes.

I've recently bought a 54 plate navara, the newer shape, this is much better truck, only 45k on the clock di engine so loads more power (it can legally 3 tonne), but I have heard the same stories of the di engine going bang, but I did get an extended warranty with the option to extend if I want in june.

I went for the last of the old shape rather than a new one as they are supposed to be terrible in most respects, poor economy, very unreliable.

I have a 03 plate, tows legally 2.7 tons, mine has done 100k without anything mnore than a routine service. My mate on the other hand had the engine go on his (con rod through the block)

Good on and off road and comparatively comfy tows well.

Bad points, fuel economy, Turning circle, Side windows mist and don't clear properly.

I had an 02 plate with the 170 engine, 100k miles from new with not a single problem, and mine was legal to tow 3.5 tonnes, although I had to spec a heavy duty towbar from nissan when I bought it.

there is a web site called knackerednavara.com or something, i remember seeing it on a truck somewhere. I think it is designed to warn people from the vehicles!!!! See what you think, its obviously biased!

Had a drive up the delectible M74 last night to view a nissan navara 51 plate priced at 2500

Guy said on phone it was the older style shape and the advert did say 60,000 miles

when we found the place and where driving down the lane my ligkts lit up the navara sitting there

My heart sank when i noticed immedietly that it was the new shape with the dodgy engine

75,000,miles on the clock (not 60 ?)

clean machine, chap would sell it for 2250 and no less with no vat needed a towbar and new loadliner

i did not buy it...........an error on my behalf perhaps

have been looking at the older style 1 108000 miles 51 plate very tidy crew cab 2 new rear tyres

11 months mot ,6 months tax he wants 3000 for it i offered 2500 he would come down to 2800 no less no vat i have declined that as well

it is stiil for sale,is the older 1 worth buying at that or should i wait until the new year as they might get cheaper ??????
