Has anyone had problems with the plastic inner lining falling to bits??

I know 2 other climbers this has happened to.

Seem like an expensive helmet, cheaply made.

Abbeypro told me i was the 1st to complain about this.

Am i, Really???

The same has happened to mine. The mesh fell off aswell. I won't buy another.

Visor attachments lock solid on mine, took it back to the dealer who contacted Stein (FS), not interested in the slightest.

New helmet every time you get scratch on the visor after a few months? I think not.

Buying another? not a chance in hell.

Stein on the up in my opinion? I think not!

I tried one on a few months back when i went shopping for a new lid with another climber for him and i have to say we were impreesed..... at first!!!

I have had a few problems with my petzl properly fitting when chip strap is off and not in use, etc. So i was very impressed when the Stein lid sat and stayed in place straight away.

But my biggest problem with it is. A helmet is meant to help soften impact and help prevent serious injury. So when Chris slapped me on the head and i felt the whole impact, which bloody hurt! I was not impressed, at all!! I even brought my petzl into the shop to compare and there was no pain.

Nothing on this world will make me use this lid! Yes it fits comfortably, but bloody hell does it hurt with small impacts.

Since my last post about the helmet

Nigel from fletcherstewart

Has contacted me and we will be in contact in the new year when i return to the UK to see if the damage to my helmet can recifide.

I do hope the Stein Pasma helmet with the upgraded inner lining stands up better than the Stein Work helmet as i do like them.

Only time will tell!!

I have been extremely disappointed with this helmet. The visor didnt last a year unti;l the hinge section snapped off, costing me a new visor. The visor became scratched within a very short time as it didnt clear the front of the helmet, rendering it useless, and now one of the plastic clips holding the inner harness to the actual helmet has disintegrated, meaning that i cannot wear it. I also found it hotter and heavier feeling than the petzl vertex which i have gone back to. A faultless bit of kit IMO.

TBH other than the lowering equipment from stein, I dont really rate their gear at all.
