As a general rule I dont think it is a great idea to let your dog sleep on your bed but not for dominance issues as some have suggested ( your dog male or female generally speaking will want to be a follower rather than a leader ) and as long as you have set clear boundaries it shouldn't be an issue.

There will be some days when the dog just wants his own space and its only right for you to provide this, even if its just his own bed but in the bedroom or hall.

I have two collies, a dog and a young bitch. Normally sleep on thier sofa in the living room and run through to the bedroom when they hear me getting up. Though just now, the dog sleeps behind a closed door in the bedroom with me, for obivious reasons. Don't need a litter of puppies to look after.

Hi there,

to answer your question , she sleeps anywhere and everywhere she can !!

This is her and my Climber after a long day of cutting diseased dry pines:

, but to seriously answer your question she normally sleeps at the end of my bed.

Our dog kips in a cage in the dining room. He's had it since he was a pup and its his little space. He's not allowed upstairs at all, tries it on and sneaks up there. I told him off a few weeks ago when I found him upstairs and the little bugger got on my side of the bed when I was out and pee'd on it!!!

Can't help notice that a lot of people here have dogs as guard dogs, is crime a real problem for some of you, I'm very lucky in that respect living where i do, I don't even take the keys out of the vehicles at night, or even lock the house doors hardly ever, only if we go on holiday.
