If you weren't in the log business, would you burn logs or use coal?

I'm not in the log business but use the site for the advice from the experts. Normally heat the house with gas central heating but always light the log burner when it's really cold. The boiler broke down last month and it was a week before a new one was fitted, log burner was going 24hrs all week. Mostly get my wood from friends getting rid of it, the local council at the country park etc. I like a lot of people actually enjoy cutting, splitting and seasoning it all. Probably have about 6 cube under storage.

I changed to log central from gas

If I bought my logs gas would be certainly cheaper.

but would not burn as many logs if I bought them.

If I was on gas I would turn it down more:confused1:

Quality of life is better on logs that come free:thumbup:

just opened the window as a bit hot in here:001_rolleyes:

If you didn't have access to a cheap supply of logs, would you buy logs at retail prices or would you use coal/oil/gas?

Hi mate, if no wood/logs it would have to be gas , coals is not sustainable as a fuel and oil is going to go through the roof thats if the travelling folk dont have it first.

Wev got fracking to come yet, long after the coal has run out we will be fracking, crist i hope iv spelt that ok:lol:

As the price of coal increases more and more of it becomes viable, we have millions of tonnes under this island.
