New saw time, 576 or ms441

So its looking like time to buy a new saw to replace the old 266 i sold.

Been looking around for ages and couldnt narrow down at all until i had a shot of a ms441 on at least a 24 inch bar last week.

 

So thats convinced me i dont need anything bigger than low 70cc mark as i only plan to run a 20 inch bar max.

 

Currently have a 357 on a 15 inch so ok there.

 

So i think its narrowed down to a husky 576 or stihl ms441.

To be a low use per year firewood saw and occasional windblow at work.

 

My local husky dealer is good, local stihl never use much so cant comment fairly just know he has issue with saws not bought from him.

 

So aside from usual stihl/husky comments looking for user reviews please, or somebody to suggest something else for me.

Not tried a husky, but i own a 441, i'm very pleased with it, was looking at either the stihl 460 or the 441, i went for the 441 due to low vibrations, i've also used a 460 and that was a very good saw too, 460 is an old tried tested design, the 441 is newer technology. I'm happy with the 441, but some don't rate it against the 460. 20" bar on the 441 is a good match, bit of a wuss on the 25" bar

From what you say you want it for why not get a new cheaper (read tried and tested) 372 or even a 365 special . You won't have the extra weight of the 2 barrel carb and all the other "x torque" ( read low emmision) stuff ? Regards Andy

The 372 sure looks good on price, is it as quick as the other two? My only experiance of big saw is 20 mins on the 441 so not really a lot of comparison time

 

Wonder if spudulike is on tonight, see what he has to say on typical faults etc.

I started a similar thread recently to try a decide on either ms460 or ms441. Ended up buying a 372xp,been impressed so far. In comparison the ms441 feels a little flat,and is noticeably heavier. Main reason I brought the 372 was weight,got a 20"bar on mine and can't believe how well balanced it feels.

dont know if the very basic comparison chart i just attached will work but its with data taken from manufacturers sites. shows not a huge difference in all three saws unless i have missed something hugely obvious.

the 372 is a better saw IMO i have a 372 and have used a 576 a bit and found that even though the 576 has more power it just feels so much more cumbersome to the 372, ive never really used stihl so couldnt comment.
