I've always had stihl saws and liked them.:thumbup1:

I've however bought a 346xpg and I love it. There's a few things that annoy me (the choke/starter looks far too flimsy, it fall over like a drunkard all the time and I don't like having to use tools to get to the filter:thumbdown:). I can life with all of those though, as the saw is awesome. what really naffs me off though is the tank lids, esp the oil one needs a screwdriver to open it. It may be the oil I use, I may be a limp-wristed whimp, it doesn't matter.

Has anyone ever fixed this, or has anyone ever somehow fitted "flippy caps" to a husky as I love them.

Thanks, Daniel.

You are just limp wristed, i do mine up finger tight and I can always undo them.

To be honest tho, just keep a plug spanner on the combi can, problem solved!!

for some reason you always seem to need a screwdriver or a 'knock' to open the oil filler cap. It's not just you. The choke/on off have been fine with me. I'm on my 3rd 346xp. I prefer that system to the stihl flippy caps. youve just bought a very good saw

I do mine up finger tight and the oil filler is always pretty hard to get off, don't know why

I always tighten it just hand-tight, I never use tools to close it. I experimented with having it only just closed but it opened.

If I close it, normal tightness, there is always a lot more force needed t open it then was used to close it. It needs "cracking" to open it. Like I said it may be the oil I use (Lincolshire farmed and pressed linseed oil) but I'm fairly certain it's not.

I agree its a dam good saw and have the same problem with the oil cap but my biggest bug bear is the top casing ive busted mine twice now both whilst snedding spruce, compared to the old 254/242 and sthils the plastics are cheap.

blimmey, brought one of these of the say so of 'u lot' and i thought i was the only one with this oil cap job!!! Had thought it was just my saw and me being a bit over zealous on tightening and forgetting not to be so over zealous....... would suggest a finger full of oil over the seal but guess that not really going to make any difference...........:001_tt2:
