Winter wear!

Just wandering what everyone wears when it gets chilly outside?

 

I normal just put on lots of layer but that gets a bit too bulky IMO. Is there any good thermal shirts that are good for keeping you warm?

 

Also what do you guys wear on your feet and hands? i suffer with cold feet and can't seem to find a decent pair of socks that will keep them warm!

 

Atm on my hands i wear thin wolly gloves then a pair of gripper gloves on top which seems to work well. I have heard showa thermal gloves are good but can't seem to find them any where to buy them!

 

Any info would be great!

I'm currently wearing this: Arktis Swat Shirt - Country Covers

 

It has been reliable so far, the outer material is pretty tough despite feeling a little thin, not torn it yet, the wool liner doesn't build up smells like a synthetic / technical fleece. Its windproof and you can undo zips under each arm (zips downwards) allowing the breeze in when you get too hot while climbing.

 

Well pleased with it. you get what you pay for IME.

I still think silk thermals hard to beat.

For the tootsies you could try Alpaca socks from Perilla. I got 2 pairs for xmas last year a black pair and a nice pink pair There real quality.

Merino base layer will go on first when the temp really plummets.

 

You can get battery powered heated socks if you really suffer from cold feet. I've never needed them, but I've heard they are worth the money.

 

Showa Thermos are a good choice, Google them, loads of suppliers. Worth having a few pairs to rotate so you can always put toasty ones on.

 

Yve Clark (Clark Cut and Climb, ad on the right) sells some excellent winter gloves I can't remember the name of.

 

Must check my winter kit out, need to be ready when it arrives....

Again, Clarkes have some top of the range ones in, but they are pricey. Rich Rule sourced my last one in Norway.

 

Again, Google is your friend.

 

'Merino wool base layer' should come up with loads.

The tegera gloves from clarks are great, think i have 4 pairs and last winter all my family got a couple of pairs for shovelling snow, clearing car etc - everybody loved them.

I buy ours at 'Arco', they sell online, gloves are blue and yellow and really much warmer than anything else for work.
