These are all good ideas. I am thinking a bit out of my budget. The bobcat processor seems to jam alot considering the logs are around 18in. The problem we have is with all the log burners we need to do alot 8-10in logs. Larger cord is more plentiful and better value for money material wise as you get better conversion but its high on labour costs. We may just produce a log splitter layed on its side and roll the rings into it. Most are 24in + beech but they do split in half easily.

could you weld a vertical splitter onto a bobcat backplate. strengthen the table so that you could scrape it along the floor to pick up the ring then operate the third service to split the log? if you had additional services piped up you could use either an accumulator arm set up or a stroke processor / harvester feed wheel to turn the log on the table??

Steve, what's out of budget about welding a bit to you existing splitter to mount it to the bobcat?

My log splitter is trailer mounted with honda engine about £2500 worth of proper kit which works a treat. I will leave that as it is I was thinking more £300 junk from auction somewhere. Needs to be easy to get on and off as bobcat has lots of other duties. Its just to knock down the stuff that is over 16" to something that can be picked up. If I put something together will put pic up.
