not the area mate its the market!

Area/market same thing surely? People on council estates do not always pay the best (but generally provide plenty of tea and biscuits)

Yet rich areas where house prices are higher people will pay more for a service (but make less cups of tea)

Also cost of living in certain areas etc.

Or you get the big houses with two Bmw's on the drive that don't wanna pay the going rate and try and knock ya down, Then you see where they've had their money from!

There are crazy underbidder Pirates in the richest neighborhoods.

The Gardner knows a guy.

This guy hacks the hell out of your yard for a cheap price.

Semi Rare to find some one willing to invest money in their trees.

In my Opinion. :)

To put it bluntly, anyone charging less than £380+vat per day for a 2 man, chipper and 3.5 ton truck should imo seek medical attention!

Unfortunatley at those rates Lee I'd spend most of my week sat at home!

I got a chipper i love it how much would you charge to rent your self and the chipper for the day just to chip.

I see as making £100 a day profit is no bad rock bottom tho. And yeah £300 average day £450 really good day.

Our market just cant get the bigger prices to many tree firms and **** loads of pikeys and gardeners landscapers they all nick our wor and do fucking **** jobs but people still use them ?.

This area, (East Anglia) probably has the highest density of Arb types of any area, and "Pikies", and landscraper/gardener types. Just one company employs something like 250 arbos, thats without the other companies!! As for the "pikies", got at least 3 sites within 20 miles of here. Fortunately, we also have a high no. of 2nd homes of the rich and famous also in our area. ie. Claudia Schiffer, Bill Wyman etc etc.

I'd have thought with a glut of tree types, it should drive the prices down, but it doesnt. I know of companies around here sending 2men, truck chipper out for £680+vat, and getting the work. So its not always cheapest rates win the work, but quality of work. I dont doubt that contract work is poorly paid, as they strive to get the highest value for money, and will ring maybe 10 cos. out of Yellow Pages.

But, I dont think just cos you have a couple of companies on your doorstep you should sell yourself short. Charge sensible money, do a good job, and people take you seriously.
