I noticed the proper x27 one is on sale atm for $39.99 (25 quid) on baileys site USA

Bailey's - Fiskars X27 Super Splitting Axe with 36" Handle

Dunno what shipping is

Usually on US stuff there are two carriage charges, one to the UK point of entry, and a second payable to HM Customs for any duty plus carriage to your address. I have occasionally had things come striaght in with no additional costs but usually get clobbered with a duty/carr bill.

It isnt a Fiskars but I won this splitting axe at the FR Jonses show.

Put it to good use on fat oak the other day to make it easier to handball out of the garden and I can say it was excellent.

First impressions great, time will tell on durability.

I've read a few similar threads now and they just prove one thing we get royally ripped off in the uk!!

Can any answer the questions "why is a fiskars x27 £25 (equivilant) in the USA and £85 in the UK if you can find a supplier" and "why is it so hard to get hold of an x27 in the UK"

Answers on a postcard please!!

Heres your postcard. I contacted fiskars uk. They didnt spell it out but they releasing the x27 in 2013. Obviously another market control thing. As everyone but uk seem to get them.

Im personnaly boycotting them at extortionate prices and going to try and get one from the USA. On principle. Why should I pay 3-4 times more than an american for a european product????

And when it does come out here, it'll still be a ripoff price.

I just brought 2x X17, a Brush Axe and a 22" machete back from the USA - all in my checked baggage, all from Fiskars, purchased via Amazon and delivered to my hotel in a few days. Total cost £100 including shipping. Over here, very significantly more!

Now I just need a longer case for bringing back X27s en-masse for resale!

I joined the club. Bought from ebay a german seller.

Im impressed and did a 6 hr stint chopping. Paid for it in shoulder ache since. Moral of story is build up gradually. It was raining and logs where undercover.

Good to use, Im impressed though surprised how it lost its edge in that session. How good are fiskars sharpeners? I used a file without to much trouble.

I wasn't too impressed with the fiskars sharpener, gone back to using a sharpening stone
