This week's forwarding - shelter belt round a big farm, fairly long extraction from one side but generally not bad (40 min turnaround averaging). 4 days so far 8-10 loads per day but not really been going for it and rippign a valve off stopped play for a bit.

Photos don't do it justice but stack is just over 40m long averaging about 2.5m tall and is all 3.75's

last photo was driving out last night.

Hoe does one tackle a mixed heap like that? I'm looking at having to move on a similar looking heap that's been rucked up by a telehandler, 'cept it's 10 time more.

Cheers :thumbup1:. It is indeed a kubota - Can't remmeber model but we think it's about 40hp. Don't think it's a UK model and reckon it's about 30 years old. It's pretty much the size of a fergie 135/ford 3000 and plays with the trailer. Trailer's a 4 tonne Weimer - it's a cracking little trailer but coudl do with a few inches wider wheel track and ideally a slightly longer crane but we manage. I looked into it and we can get the booms off the 4.1m version of the crane and they'll bolt straight on as everything else is the same.

From what I have seen, the Weimer cranes are very similar to the Farma ones.

Hi, I'm talking VERY small scale about 20 m3 each year for personal domestic log use. I have covered storage for 60 m3 so it's a 3 year rotation.

This in Loire valley in France. Most trees come from a friend's farm, and I tend to log there then use his telehandler for extraction.

But I plan to buy a Quad (probably a Yam 350) with winch and little trailer, as this will save some of the double-handling I do at present.

Quad will also be used as a runabout 2nd 'car', as in France I can allegedly ride 2 up on the roads.

This thread has been really educational, but I would like to connect with others at this end of the scale to see what kit etc. they use and recommend.

Best,

Luke.
