Can't believe this... My little brother just got home... He was stopped by the police because they thought he was too young to be driving my car. I have insurance which let's anyone drive so it's fine.

But they have gone and seized my silky and chainsaws because apparently they are offensive weapons in the car... Apparently as he was driving my car he didn't have a legal excuse to have them so they can take them... And the officer told my brother they would probably be destroyed...

Obviously I am going to go tomorrow and ask to speak to a senior officer, and if not get my solicitor involved. But I am kind of screwed now for work tomorrow.

Any advice on this? Or if not, be careful when going to the supermarket if your harness is on the back seat!!!!

I would but iv'e had a drink. I'm not risking a ban... I'm completely shocked. If he was a typical chavvy I'd understand (although no agree). But he's never been arrested or been in trouble.

Get dow nthe cop shop ASAP. Take any documentation of your line of work and ask how a chainsaw can be classed as an offensive weapon. Or phone the non emergency number and they can put you through the local station or offficer who pulled your bro over and seized your saws.

I would be hopping mad! Get down there in a taxi if needs be!

He was carrying the saws because he was doing you a favour, therefore he had a perfectly good reason to be carrying them. As they are not prohibited items the police should have reason to suspect that he intended to use them for nefarious purposes before taking them. Where they in plain view in the car or did they have a warrant?

they should have issued you a receipt for any items they have impounded

They havnt given this! I'll get a taxi. I just hope I don't explode and end up getting arrested. Seriously... ARGHHH a harness in a bag... and a ******* saw under cover with a scabbard on! Sorry for the language, but I'm furious!
