What tyres are you using on your 4x4?

What type of tyres do you use? Do you use dedicated off-road tyres or fit a compromise tyre such as the BFG AT?

Cn you suggest a good make of winter tyres for my Defender?

BFG mud terrains. The best grip and last forever.

Toyo Open Country (205R16) on L200. I had the Falken Landair and Kumho Venture before - both good but not in mud; the Toyos are excellent in the slippy stuff and still wear brilliantly on the tarmac.

been using BFG's and BFG KM2's but have found the KM2's are not wearing as well so after taking some advice from the fitters at Western Power i will be going for coopers next - apparently they are the mutts knutts

But coopers are good my old man just put some on his ranger and highly recommends and cheaper than BFG

since april I've had General Grabber AT/2 tyres on my 110, haven't got anywhere near stuck yet and still get 30-35mpg and reasonable comfort on road.

 

Will be finding out how they deal with snow in a couple of months or so...

I'm using Kumho KL71s. They're a good compromise with decent off road performance and are surprisingly civilised on road.

 

They're not the toughest tyre and do seem to cut up a bit if driven enthusiastically on tarmac, but that not really what they are designed for.
