Been looking into getting a Land Rover 110, LWB, 2 seater, but I suspect the the prices are high compared to other 4x4's on the market. Can anyone suggest some alternatives please:

  • 2 seater, no rear seats (or passenger windows, of course)
  • LWB
  • Hard top (needed especially to place business logo and contact details on)
  • 4x4 capabilities, low, high and diff
  • Good towing potential
  • Few electrics
  • Easy to maintain
  • £3-5k

If any model has a POL too, that would be a bonus :)

Many thanks.

From what you have listed there is no choice but a land rover!! Although land rovers are good at retaining their value (better than any other in fact) the repairs are VERY cheap, and whatever people say about them , they dont go wrong any more than any other 4x4 when put to the same work. Less in fact IMO as they are truly designed for the work. They are horrible though compared to driving other things which are more like cars.

Unfortunately, those other things that drive like cars also act more like cars when it comes to the off road stuff as I found out when I got my Surf stuck on a snow drift on the side of Mt Ruapehu. Landy would have got out no worries but the surf was way stuck. If you have something without the electrics there'll be less to go wrong. Jappas inevitably cost a bomb to put right when something does turn to custard (at least from my experience).
