What's on your bench today?

A local customer decided he did not need my services this year, and would repair and service his own strimmer.

The primer was leaking so he came in to buy one and fitted it himself, this was on Good Friday.

But he came back yesterday as it would not run since fitting the bulb and asked me to look at it. The running issue was simple, he had pulled too much intake hose from the tank whilst fitting the bulb, but not pulled it back later. So it was kinked double, blocking the fuel.

I straightened it, and started the machine first pull. But it jumped around all over the bench so I killed it instantly. A quick check of the cutting head showed he had sharpened and refitted the blade. No proper flanges or cup, just a couple of random washers. It was lucky he could not start it or he may have lost a leg!

Think your local competitor may have sent him in to take you out so he can take over your patch:sneaky2::lol:

Put a new crank shaft seal on the clutch side of my 254xp tonight. I would have put one on the fly wheel side but when I fitted the first one it went in wonky and I had to pull it out again. I pulled them out by drilling into the seal and screwing a woodscrew and pulling with mole grips. Easy way to do it. Let's see if it runs better now
