The ms250 went back to customer tonight. He didn't see the point in changing the bar as he doesn't use it enough.........

 

Advice over oils and chain sharpening given, aswell as cleaning the saw now and again. So all good and happy.

 

On to the next.

question for spud

i have a strimmer fs85 that will not tune

on tickover its fine but the minute you try to bring the revs up it bogs down and cuts out, any suggestions would be helpful

 

Gardenkit is your man.

 

Could you list anything you have tried? Fuel filter, air filet, etc

Sounds a bit like fuel starvation on the high speed part of the carb, could be fuel filter, fuel line or just crap in the carb, worth looking at all of those - worth also loosening the fuel cap and seeing if that helps to elliminate tank vent issues.

 

Check that guaze filter - a common issue with all small carbs!

Also try it with just a little bit of choke on. If this improves it then it indicates a weak mix whilst on the high speed part. This could be too little fuel as suggested, but could also be too much air. Check the tightness of the carb to cylinder bolts, they sometimes come loose.

One for spud and the 357xp owners. Rather than start I new thread I thought it best to slip in here.

 

357 underneath where the front loop handle screws in with 2 allen socket bolts, my saw has started to flex because 1 bolt is into alloy casting and the other is in plastic.

 

If I turn saw upside down and push on both handles with bar tip against something I get 5mm of flex difference. I take it I need to replace the fuel tank housing complete unit or mess splitting it and replacing the plastic half, any pointers?

 

I would post pics but my 2005 black macbook on snow leopard is not recognising usb ports.:rolleyes:

Busy weekend, been doing a bit of ground maintenance down at the village church, they wanted volunteers and there you go, hacking at nettles with a scythe because my poxy McCuloch strimmer let me down - fecking thing!!

 

Anyway, got a couple of MS200s in from a member, this one was new to him and wasn't very good, I measured 135psi so made a few....tweaks and is now running 185psi - highest I have seen yet:thumbup: flippin thing wouldn't start, after stripping the carb five times and finding th eneedle valve was leaking under pressure, found that the diaphragm fitted was wrong - the central rivit was far too high keeping the needle open:001_rolleyes:

 

This saw will rip now as the muffler has been moded and with that compression:thumbup:

 

The next one had the crb boot retaining plate UNDER the boot - no wonder it wasn't running right. The pic is how it should look......Did the usual pressure and vac checks, cleaned the carb ans overhauled the chain brake - replaced a spring and all was good.
