was a silly thread, some things are just not worth worrying about, and are emotive in all the wrong dimensions!

 

people fascinate me, especially the ones who give you one impression and actually deep down are caring sharing folk, but require a cattle prod to show it!

Its calmed down now . Allowed the charity bands and is happy to let the girls wear minimal make up and jewelery . Still no hair dye allowed and no trainer type shoes . I think the impressive turn out of parents has influenced his decision in relaxing the rules . Most of the parents attending do in some form or other help the school out in fundraising events , Free use of local woodland . Charity days .Christmas events and so on .

Your kid should've done what he was told, end of story. Wrist bands - get a grip on reality for christ's sake. Headmaster tells him him not to wear it, he shouldn't wear it and you as an adult should be supporting the headmaster, what's wrong with you?

 

The main problem in British schools is not the headmasters or teachers its over sensitive parents whining on about your kid's rights to whatever the hell they want.

 

No wonder this country in a mess when headmasters and teachers get no support from parents.

I guess the moral of this thread could be stand up for what you believe in and support your kids. Can't wait to see the new student hand book and changes for the dress code etc. Have a nice day and a great school year.

Here's the facts - in school the headmasters and teachers have the authority, by siding with your kid over such an pathetic issue you and the rest of those parents have severly undermined the headmaster and teachers authority

 

This means you and the rest of those parents are adding to the problem of lack of respect within society.

 

Dont try and claim the moral highground because your son's wrist band represents a worthy cause. Charity wrist bands are nothing more than a fashion statement, a few years back everyone was wearing Cancer Awareness wrist bands, where are they now?

 

No-one is wearing Cancer Awareness wrist bands these days, why's that???

No, but the wristbands that were once in vogue at are now out of fashion. In reality people really didn't care that much about Cancer Awareness otherwise they'd still be wearing the wristbands.

 

If you and your son stand by your words your son should wear that wrist band for the rest of his life. But he wont will he? one day he'll wake up and say, 'I can't be bothered with this wristband anymore and chuck it in the bin'.

 

Then you'll sit and reflect on your childish decision to support your son's right to wear a 'charity' wristband in school.
