Potential Beech carving

This is a large Beech butt taken down a couple of weeks ago, it weighs approx 4.5 ton, is 7ft wide at its widest and approx 15ft tall.

I think this piece is very unique and needs some one with vision to sculpt something special.

As you can see the butt is stood up by itself with no additional support so can be moved anywhere needed.

 

Im looking to sell this and i think someone here could make some money if they put some time in on it. I was quoted £1500 - £2000 to carve it and couldn't afford it.

 

Im after £350 for it and delivery can be arranged seperatly (same guy who lifted it here)

 

It is located in Wigan

Yes an interesting lump, but seems alot of money. What if you don't mind did he charge to drop at yours?

Doesn't this stuff price up same as green firewood normally?

You could try contacting local council- arts and leisure. They may have a project in the pipeline that could utilise it.

think 350 may be alittle steep!if it was Yew would be just about tolerable.

Ugly lump, and I bet it's full of rot. Where all those branch stumps are coming off, it'll be only the bark and sapwood holding it together.

 

Why do you think it had to come down in the first place?
