just out of interest to some, low stumps are also better for coppiced woods, the lower (and flatter) the stump the better the future growth

 

coppice is a sort of a way of prunning youve got your point which you take back to which is going to regenerate growth taking it back to far will not produce regrowth therefore your defeating the object of coppicing.

 

Its also best not to have flat cuts a flat cut will collect rain and rot the stump and again will give no good regrowth.

 

Every coppice stool is different mind and everyone flush off differently in coppicing.

This is a myth.

 

We used to put drain pipes into cavities to stop them rotting, but fungus does not grow under water, so water is not a bad thing.

as huck says water pockets are no bad thing especialy when detritus gets in and goes anaerobic.

 

but huck, fungi first came from water, and many still live an entirely aquatic existence.:thumbup1:

man i hate angle grinders

 

my hair isnt grey its full of dust,,

and just for the record i look NOTHING like that now lol
