Needs to go and have a word with his union as that was the case on the 2007 settlement. New government new rules sorry but he is in for a nasty shock hence the reason why the unions are up in arms. It might even be worth him taking early retirement before the new rules come in but he might have to be quick as every teacher over the age of 55 might suddenly have the same idea and then you wont need a strike because there will be so few experienced teachers left the system will collapse.

The Guardian got a leaked document regarding teachers pensions at the start of June which stated that the deal would be based on Hutton but he did not go far enough. The leaked document was reported in the Guardian on 14th June and the unions have produced figures based on that document. If you PM me your email address I can send you the figures.

If you read my earlier posts I stated that I know many teachers and they confirm the things Hutton and Co are saying.

 

Of cause the unions will try and paint a blacker picture than is the reality, in order to frighten their members and fool the public, but we are not all fools.

Renewablejohn as given you facts and figures from his wives own experiance after 37 years in the job.

 

I don't think its a case of the unions trying to frighten their members, more a case of the government trying to take away the rights of public sector workers in a time of austerity.

 

I'm sure if this was happening to your wife you would have a totally different outlook on it.

Massive holidays, yeah right! My mrs is a teacher and works every night of the week doing lesson plans,marking etc, weekends she usually does marking for a few hours. Holidays well there is also work to be done then. If you add all her hours up in regard to her salary she ain't on that good a wage. People think they have it easy but that ain't the case.

 

 

I know 3 teachers and yes they do have to work during the holidays but they do (and admit they do) have a lot of time off the only disadvantage being it's fixed around the school time table.

 

All 3 teachers I know seem to be pretty happy with what they get paid for what they do (ok that may be different now with these changes).
