Sad day-

Recommended Posts

I dropped my external hard drive a while back, and had been meaning to back it up for a long while, i have 70,000 images on it, many of which are important scientific records. i have just spent 48 hours trying to salvage as much as I can, still a long way to go, but it appears many files have corrupted and are no longer viable:puke:

I do not know as yet the full extent of the damage, but i was supposed to be putting a file together to mail some great people regarding my theories on Fistulina hepatica after a conversation this week.

just when these images become the asset they was always meant to be, i may have lost more than I can bare.

This is the second time ive lost images, but this is a BIG loss.

The digital age is a great thing, and a curse, learn from my mistake and back up boys and girls, cos this is going to sting for me for all my days.:thumbdown:

that sucks mate. i have had an incident like this where i lost a whole disk that contained all the photos of my kids from birth onwards plus loads of other non-replaceable pics.

i looked into data recovery specialists that basicly tear the thing apart in a lab and fire lasers at the plater to recover things that software and pc shops just can not do. i hope this is of some help mate. there are a few company's offering this service but i would talk to them and get quotes as the cost can be very high.

Try using this...

Recuva - Download

I've used it on a number of occasions to great effect. If you can still read the drive, obviously...

I've also used this;

GRC|Hard drive data recovery software

but they've started charging for it now. Good luck...

thanks, when ive got all the un corrupted images off it i might try those to recover that which i cant
