best stump treatment?

PA6 hand held applicators (salt cellar:biggrin:)

COSHH records must be kept- In my experience it's 'all or nothing'- especially if you are asking someone else to do it.

Salt is a chemical

Salt does leach and would prevent local replanting although I'm not sure how much as I haven't used it. Certainly more than Roundup.

Can I ask- If you were to treat say a 2ft diameter sycamore with salt- how much would you need to put on to get guaranteed kill?

I ask because there's nothing worse than saying you have treated the stump only to find you are called back the following year to retreat= costs!!

I'm not against the use of salt- it would be nice to cut out the 'chemical' companies, but there are considerations if we were to move over to using it on all stumps.

NO Lorry!

Mine is kept in my garage labelled "Pond Salt", if it were laballed "Poison", you would need COSHH regs!:sneaky2:

Mine is carried in the truck and sometimes gets accidently "spilled" on stumps, if you "applied poison" you need COSHH regs!:sneaky2:

Ummm not rally true after all it is a substance, and a poison is defined as any substance when applied in sufficient quantities so as to cause harm t the target organism. and alsas if you spilt enough to be toxic to somting ie a tree that would be Net regs as well as coshh

heheheheheheh

...hehe, I was talking about salt!...I can't be doing with lugging cordless drills about with flat batteries to curse. Bring back Amcide and have stump treatment as part of CS31..we all know it makes sense! :)
