As a percentage of our income motoring costs much less than years ago.

 

Many people could not afford one car per household, let alone the three or four that many now have.

 

I suppose so My old mans first car cost him £12. £1.50 of fuel lasted a week. But he was on £4.50 a week!

I dunno about that.

 

I thought more people had more cars because it is/was easier to get finance plus all the remortgaging that had been going on.

 

A car is a necessity these days to many people rather than a luxury, that's why it's easy to hammer motorists. Fuel,tax,insurance,repairs all sky rocket but I still need to drive so I have to pay.

Can't get my head round how it's cheaper than days gone by with relation to wages and cost ect.

 

When I was 17 and i'am 33 now, to fill the tank was £42 thats at 78p a ltr insurance £300 and road tax I think was £82.

Dont know.....all i know is that if they knocked 20p off a litre they would still make multi billion pound profits!!
