I have just had a good one tonight ! Chap comes up our drive walks up our yard looking at my stack of logs, I went to him and asked could i help you,He said How much are your logs i said the bulk bags or the net sacks he said those pointing to the bulk bags of hardwood I said £70 he said are you joking i have just had a log burner installed and would like to fill my car up for a couple of quid! you people in the country are jumping on the bandwagon and trying to make a quick buck. To which i helped him back into his toyota prius and he silently reversed down the drive :001_tt:001_tt2:2:

wouldnt we all like to fill are cars up for a couple of quidd!! thats energy prices for you.

I had a classic where this posh bloke asked what I was doing with my Euc' logs?

I was busy and still had a few loads to cart. I said help yourself take as much as you want. Then he said to me "what I usually do is charge £70 a load". The world stopped turning for a moment then I said "you're all right mate" and we laughed him off site and into his Mitsubishi Shogun and dinky ickle trailer!:lol

The latest trend I have come across is customer pretends to be clueless about cu metres so you show them the truck and offer free delivery. However customer would prefer to bring their own trailer to fill for £40 like old joe used to, no doubt when leaving will look like an egyption pyramid:sneaky2:

had a bloke order a load of logs this was in my start up days , he said cheque in post ok i say's so i deliverd logs . had a phone call that night sorry cant pay you as your logs are wet . so he said what he will do is pay half price and he will use them next year so i says no problem mate i will pick them up in the morning . wen't to pick up logs next day next door came out and said he try's it on all the time plonker. next door had log'.s

I have had the same person try this twice with me, wanting money off to collect themselves etc etc.

many years ago a woman come down to my grandads yard and asked how much for the logs my grandad told her the price but she said you've got loads of them you should be giveing them away to which my grandad said: sainsburys have got loads of frozen peas but they dont give them away. she got back in her car and drove off with the hump.
