On another point, its a bit different to compare your mum helping you to your dad. I have also had my dad help me out on a few jobs when i was starting out, but tree work is not a womans job, certainly not an elderley womans job!

your in trouble now:thumbdown::lol:

when i first started my business i didn't have a driving licence or a vehicle so my mum used to drive me to and from jobs with all my gear in the back of her micra and she used to help from time to time ( those who know me will probably have met my mum at shows and know how tall she is:biggrin:) but she always listened to what i was telling her and wore appropriate ppe.

Surely the moral of this story is to get more then one quote, especially if the guy ask for £2300 to reduce the height of your hedge...

I find it amusing about how there is currently a thread regarding being undercut and now about how much this guy has charged, i know the price is not the only issue before anyone jumps on me.

Maybe you should watch the vid before criticising my post, the old dear must have been in her early sixties and she was dandering around under the conifer as he was throwing branches down, no PPE whatsoever. If this guy needs help he should hire a competent groundie on a part time casual basis, not use his mum.

For real? I didn't crticise your post I asked the question as to what was wrong with taking your old man or lady to site. Fair enough if they're faffing around underneath but they only need to be told to keep out of the way and watch. As for your statement about it not being a woman's job; I'll treat that with the contempt it deserves!

No problem at all with bringing along relatives of either sex as long as you take sensible precautions. Since my gf became pregnant I insist she uses timber-tongs.
