How would you go about getting into a conifer with no crotch?

A ladder? That'll give you a bit of start, before you DON'T spike the rest of the way.

 

Yep me to big ladder is always my first thing on the van bigger the better for me. Them there throw bags are all good and well but you can't beat a dam big ladder and work all the rest out when you get to the top of it 

But a throwline takes up less room on the truck and takes even less carrying into someones back garden. Haha.
