Cordless drills, opinions?

Morning All,

 

I need to get a new cordless drill, one that can do everything, although no major masonary drilling, and a decent price. Screwfix have got some pretty good priced ones, but what are your opinions/reviews? 18v or 24v, Lithium Ion battery?

Makita LXT 18v Li-ion are the dogs *****. I messed around for ages with cheep makes until i got fed up of batteries wearing out running out of power miles from home etc etc etc.

 

In my opinion as well much better than the dewalt ones ( i have used both).

 

You can also get circular saws, jig saws etc etc that use the same batteries.

The best used to be Makita, Dewalt (now crap), Hitachi, Bosch Professional etc

Of those I'd go with Bosch Professional or Makita. Got Bosch Pro myself - pure quality.

although i needed a third one on a decking job fast last year and got a makita from screw fix for £99 with a couple of batteries its been excellent:thumbup1:

 

i have a joiner mate who swears by panasonic screw guns they are expensive but what a power they have.

B&Q had a good offer on recently, Hitachi Li-ion with two batteries for £100. Hitachi rep told me the rrp on the batteries is £60 each......

i second that, or if you have the money look at hilti, you can only buy them direct from hilti and they are seriously built to last and withstand the hardest abuse

Price is a very good guide to quality

 

I've spent the last 20 odd years repairing them.

 

The cheaper they are the more they come in for repair.

We have 2 boxes of them. We have the main drill and the impact driver. Can never fault them. Brilliant pieces of kit.
