Adapt a seat belt holder from a car is what we've talked about in the past.

No need to adapt one, they are already in the market place, I have a couple that I bought for use with a MEWP. They are essentially a seat belt reel with a biner at each end and a nice cover on them. They retract all the way when released and they work in all attitudes so I dont thing there is an inertial brake. I will dig them out and post a pic.

I bought them from vince at fujikura (as was), now Sorbus international.

small krab beside the bag and a slip knot cliped into it means the rest of your lanyard stays in the bag

I had a little bit of accessory cord tied in a prussik then clipped to a crab next to the bag - same sort of thing as a slip knot on a crab, but a bit quicker to adjust (I found). But I just found it got a bit tiresome, having to adjust two things on my lanyard.

Presumably the retractable lanyard in the smooth climbing video is the thing that looks like a film reel on his harness?

Thanks, I might give Vince a call.

10mm static on a cinch is very sexy, the problem you will have bill is finding a hitch cord to suit 10mm ?? for your vt and pulley.try the cinch m8 not too expensive and has many uses.

as for the length and storage, the small rope bags are def suitable for the job but as seen in the joe harris vid the retractable device has got to be the ultimate storage choice and im sure given the next 6 months somebody over here will be selling these.
