Lanyard problem

Watching Joe Harris climb with a retractable lanyard in the 'smooth climbing' thread has bought home to me just how much I hate my lanyard, and have done for years.

It is always getting in my way - wrapping round my legs, pulling my Silky out of my Sawpod, stopper knot getting caught in forks etc. It's driving me insane!

Hangmans coil to shorten it after each use is too time consuming.

It's a standard 3.5m 13mm single spliced eye which I run with a short VT and micro pulley.

Anyone using thinner stuff? Any tips for keeping it out of my anger zone?

Or will I have to wait for Reg and Stein to bring Joe Harris 'tentacle' to the UK market?

The handsaw.sawpod thing is definatly a problem, unless you can put your saw on the oposite side from your lanyard, but I know thats not easy.

I daisy chain most of the spare lanyard and only keep enough hanging for normal use, so it rarley gets under my feet but would catch on a legmounted handsaw

If you put a caritool or similar on the back of the harness you can clip the lanyard out of the way when not in use.

I used to have a small caritool on the left hand side of my harness, but snapped it on connies. Might give it another try, running the lanyard round my back and clipping it on my left.

Problem is I clip my 200 on a large caritool on my right, and think it may clash.

Thanks for the input so far fellas.
