i was using my art ropeguide today up a 100ft poplar and suddenly thought "that is not alot i'm hanging on!" people out there give me some confidence in that tiny bit of webbing we all swing on! most likely me being paranoid.

Of course I know it's safe, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like this.

Funny how a long, long way up a dodgy tree in the wind you start looking at all the flimsy little bits of tat that your life is hanging off!

if it wasnt able to hold you, why would you be using it?

just lay off the cakes and pasties and you wont need to worry as much!

i wish you hadn't said that. i sat on a customers garden chair the other day and went straight through it :001_huh:

belay my last post ginandtonic...maybe you're not paranoid

Id put that down to a weak chair, being out in the sun would have weakened the plastic

Its happened to me too! but i was leaning back on a plastic garden chair, off came the back legs! laughter ensued.

Mate i would be alot more worried about the branch/tree u are tied into! ropeguides and other rated gear are rated for a reason. i reckon ur body would fail well before a rope guide did. U get used to it! higher the better:)

Its true though, I have some traditional webbing slings about an inch wide, rated at 24Kn that I happily use as re directs or anchor points, but the newer spectra and/or dyneema slings that are 10mm wide but still rated at 24kn dont give me nearly the same amount of confidence.

Ultimatly though youhave to look at the ratings, and obviously the condition, and just go with it.
