I am surprised that whales are not winched out to sea with a tug and left for the sharks and sea bugs to munch on. The video with TNT and the smashed vehicle was

 

24hrs before the main earthquake in NZ a large amount of pilot whales beached themselves as did various species before the Boxing Day Tsunami.
