Please allow me to make amends for my previous post, and attempt ot bring this thread back on track, here follows a couple of pics taken at Sydney's Botanic Gardens,

First off the remarkable, ubiquitous Moreton Bay Fig, (note ariel root next to opera house)

Here's that Brachychiton, from a slightly different angle to show the lean.

 

Serious ammount of subsidence on the compression side.

Wonder if this lean is the species genetic characteristic, or whether they will eventually Prop.

Appears to be handling and adapting to situation well.

Had the chance to nip in to Ely whilst on the Lonsdale Vet Tree seminar on Tuesday.

 

Allways wanted to check out the Plane within the grounds of the Bishops Palace.

 

Not the tallest specimen in the world, but this mighty beast is certainly an impressive sight to behold, well worth the trip if you're in that kneck of the woods

Trees are pretty resiliant organisms, but I guess an overdose (sic) of radiation is pretty comprehensive.

What a shame

check out the Hiroshima Ginko's, they pretty resilient!!

Here's two from me, first a Kauri near fairy falls, over 2meter diamater where i'm stood and split into 3 big big stems, almost as awsome as tana mahuta at the break of dawn(no pics sorry) the second, another kauri, the square one which has to be a bit of a freak of trees.

A few good tree pics i took in California a while back! The bristlecone pines (Pinus longaeva), the famous Monterrey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa), Some coastal Redwood pics (Sequoia sempervirens) in tall trees grove in an isolated wilderness region of Redwood national park in northern California and a pic of Crater Lake National Park just accross the border in Oregon! Got some of the General somewhere, but can't find em! I'll post em if i find em folks! Ed

Here they are!!! There is a pic with me looking remarkably slim stood next to the giant (for a change!), and check out the small limb that fell off during the winter due to heavy loading from snow!
