If you think that's bad try this one for size. This was a couple of years ago when I was manager for Treescape. A car cossed the centre line coming around a corner and went under the truck (I purposefully didn't show pictures of the car) and flipped it. Truck and bucket were a write off.

Were there any weights on the front other than the bucket? As the chipper on the 3 point arms may have been just enough to put it on the back wheels and cause it to roll. Saw a tractor this morning John Deere 7030 with a big chipper on the back (must have been 10" max feed) and everytime he pulled away from a junction his front wheels were off the ground by atleast 4 inches, sometimes more. Didnt get number off the side of the tractor and could barely read or see rear numberplate and tail board.

Ouch, but a good advert for roll cages - they're there for a reason and the fact that the driver can talk about this morning is that reason; the tractor's just a machine though I understand that may not be the way it feels to you just now. Fingers crossed for insurance; this is the kind of thing you pay for so good luck.

oh dear, i would say if he put the brakes on that the weight and momentum of the chipper, which isnt light being it a german house like those schliesings would have just sent it over, and as one pin snapped the tractor flipped sideways when the chipper hit the tarmac.

Just speculation, but i like working these things out.

Glad the guy is ok, thats the main thing.

Its just a lump of metal at the end of the day!

Presume it's PTO driven so would weigh less than an engined chipper. I drive tractor around with more weight than that on the back and nothing on the front arms and have never (touch wood) felt it lift. I can't understand how that would occur!

You want to try a 300HP New Holland 8050 and three row bed tiller! Water ballasted tyres and it's like wheelying a giant armchair down the A27!

You work or worked for langmeads then ??:)
