I read the initial post before going to bed last night and assumed it was a joke

I work for a small building firm and we have a quantity of timber remaining from the renovation and redevelopment of a large farmhouse

 

 

 

 

For reference the board in the lower right is 6x4'

 

Basically we need rid of this timber and are looking to sell it wholesale, it mostly consists of construction joists, floor boards, door frames etc and as such is full of nails

 

There is good access and plenty of space and would ideally suit someone with some kind of large pto table saw with a tct blade

 

Location is ST20 and is between Stafford and penkridge.

 

With regards to price, please make me an offer, I'm obviously not expecting anywhere

near firewood prices per cu m, but I think it's worth more than a hundred quid. I would accept some kind of p/x on a saw, stihl onlyThanks

Most people I know with wood burners take this sort of stuff happily, they love old timbers and pallet wood etc, despite the nails and presumably paints (which is not something that had occurred to me).

 

Well if it's unsaleable and bordering on the illegal then I guess the boss will have to find a responsible way to dispose of it. Cheers for the advice guys

That is NOT firewood mate, any more than bags full of mdf offcuts are. Get a waste disposal firm in.

To be honest, I really thought this would sell well, that someone would be happy to give £100 for probably ten tonnes of timber, I hadn't realised there were environmental implications and that this was not suitable as fire wood. Well, everyday is a school day, as they say

your pile of timber will be classed as waste and so you have to comply with Environment Agency Regulations with regard to transporting it etc. Would take a lot of time to sort through and end up with no where near 10T - and as already mentioned not ideal for woodburners or open fires.

Would be a shame if you got to it one day and found some body had set light to it during the night!!!!

I can just picture the scene of your boss in court and the environment agency prosecuting. Sorry your honour I did not bother finding out how to dispose of our building waste. We always do it this way and have been doing it for x number of years but its alright because it is just bordering on the illegal.

Any decent lengths of wood like 3x2, 4x2, beams etc, keep to one side and build something with them, it would be a shame to see them go to waste
