A freind of mine (Malcolm Chaffer) was telling me about this tree he did in 2006 and sent me through these photos. In 2006 Isola Madre was struck by a cyclone and this 50 tonne Kashmiriana tree blew over. The decision was made to save the tree by re-lifting it and carrying out remedial works and installation of support lines. The final picture is of it in march 2010. He informed me the final Cost was around £300,000 GBP.

At the risk of being repetative... WOW! :thumbup1:

 

I haven't seen many C. kashmirianas and they've all been mere babies in comparison to that one, even after it's pruning.

That is incredible. Do you know who footed the bill for that? That's a remarkable amount of money to spend on retaining a tree. Says something about the local opinion of trees.
