Welding Chainsaw Bars

Dont really think that NPTC will agree with this, but anyway...

After reading somewhere a while back that old timber fallers, maybe in the US, used to weld chainsaw bars together to make extra long ones, and then seeing on here that a lot of people run very small bars on some saws, i wanted to try a small bar but didnt want to buy one, so i thought i would make my own

In my "workshop" i have loads of old bars (grandads and cousins old ones), some worn right out, some in ok condition but none of them are under 20" instead of going to the pub friday night i had an evening in with the angle grinder and a small arc welder granddad gave me :thumbup1: Didnt do any measurements just cut a chunk out and welded it back together it came out so my 361 has a 10" cut... niceeee! Splash of grey paint and it looks brand new. Also made a 15" :001_smile:

Dont have any pictures of the making of the 10" or any of the welding, but you get the idea.

Did a small climbing job yesturday, so gave it a good run all day, worked a charm and cuts very very very well!

Fantastic!!!!!!

You are one of the last of a dieing breed, me and Alex Price were only discussing today, how few youngsters today take an interest in making or fixing things, most just want sit and look at a screen of some sort or another.
